MSR is excited to announce the launch of our Fuel Canister Recycling Program. In an effort to keep your pile of empty fuel canisters out of landfills, we’re now collecting empty canisters at our Repair Shop in Seattle. Bring in any brand of backpacking fuel canister and we’ll ensure it’s properly recycled for you.

MSR’s Repair Shop is located at 130 South Dakota Street, Seattle, 98134, and is open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Not in Seattle? Recycle your MSR canisters at home.

It’s easy to recycle IsoPro fuel canisters yourself. Just follow these steps. And stay tuned, as we will be expanding our fuel canister recycling program to other cities in the future.

Here are a couple tools you can use to safely puncture a used (and completely empty!) fuel canister. Screwdrivers also work well.
