PRODUCTION SPECIALIST 1 (SEASONAL)

General Summary of Responsibilities:
Assemble a variety of products following standardized methods. (3rd shift-9:30pm-6am)

Job Duties:

  • Production workers are trained over time to work in a variety of positions on the factory floor. Duties are assigned depending on production requirements. Employees may be classified as a Production Specialist 1, 2, 3 or 4 depending on their cross training and job responsibilities.
  • Manufacture products in order to meet the finished goods planned production schedule. Specific duties depend on the work station but jobs include the use of hand and simple power tools and may involve assembly, minor fitting, adjusting, and testing.
  • Ensure consistent quality by following drawings and work instructions.
  • Must be able to meet company attendance standards.
  • Ensure a safe work area by making sure that processes are setup safely per OSHA guidelines.
  • Demonstrate willingness to try new ideas and work in different areas in order to maintain a flexible work force.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Demonstrate teamwork skills and contribute to assigned Work Team in order to achieve goals.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English in order to follow directions and/or complete necessary production paperwork.

  • Previous experience in production line work helpful.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 Ibs. on a daily basis.

Job Duties:

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • 2 year degree in Manufacturing Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering.
  • Washington State Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in manufacturing.
  • CNC machining, Assembly, Punch presses, Lean Manufacturing, JIT, Kanban, SPC.
  • Experience with MSR products, Active role in outdoor activities (climbing, backpacking, etc.)
  • Minimum of 1 year of CAD skills on Autocad, Master Cam, or similar program.

TEXTILE TEST ENGINEER

General Summary of Responsibilities:
Perform laboratory testing and documentation on new and existing products at various stages of development and production. Design laboratory testing procedures and process that effectively evaluate textile quality and performance. Provide test results to product development teams to inform design decisions and establish product specifications. Develop test plans, acquire or design and build necessary test apparatus, compile and analyze data. Ensure that the testing has been performed adequately and that all reports and records are completed properly.

Job Duties:

  • Work with the Product Specialist, Market Managers, Project Managers, QA and Product Development departments to determine testing requirements and appropriate test methodologies.
  • Evaluate data and write report that concisely documents the testing performed and details conclusions that may be drawn from the testing results.
  • Conduct destructive and nondestructive laboratory testing of products and materials as needed and provide design and performance information as requested.
  • Work with Project Managers and Lab Coordinator to prioritize and schedule product testing projects.
  • Find, modify, source, design and build, or coordinate the construction of required test jigs, fixtures, measurement devices and related apparatuses.
  • Establish effective test plans and methods, including research of regulatory requirements for appropriate equipment and standards.
  • Prepare and conduct field and lab testing in a safe, accurate and efficient manner.
  • Identify, locate and follow test protocols established by regulatory agencies (i.e., ANSI, CE, UAII, etc.).

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associates degree and coursework specific to textile science is required. A four-year Textile Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Two years experience in R&D and manufacturing environment or a strong technical background (engineering, design, etc.) is preferred. Experience with textiles is required. Machine shop, prototyping and/or light assembly experience is preferred. Must be an active outdoor enthusiast knowledgeable in backcountry travel and camping.
  • Knowledgeable regarding textile materials and processes appropriate for CDI product lines.

General Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Work toward manufacturing processes that are controlled and repeatable by implementing and maintaining statistical process control, poke yoke quality methods, and continuous parts flow, etc.
  • Work with fabrication, tool shop, and maintenance personnel, including suppliers when applicable, to ensure maximum production efficiency.
  • Create and maintain work instructions for each production work station
  • Teach continuous improvement principals to production, staff and suppliers.
  • Work with R&D to help determine the most efficient means of manufacturing new products.
  • Work with Quality Control to find ways of maintaining and/or increasing our quality based on customer demands

Education, Skills and Abilities:

MILITARY R&D SPECIALIST

General Summary of Responsibilities:
Support the Military Affairs Department by contributing hands-on technical support to R&D projects and product commercialization efforts.

Job Duties:

  • Plan and implement test programs to evaluate the quality, safety and performance of lightweight military gear and materials. Responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting Engineers and Principal Investigators in defining and documenting the Test Plan.
  • Conducting all necessary preparations for materials and product testing. This may include preparing the test site, ordering materials, assembling test samples, and setting up and taking down equipment.
  • Conducting both laboratory and field tests in accordance with the Test Plan, within the specified budget and time frame.
  • Compiling the test results. Work closely with the project team on the documentation and communication of test information.
  • Support the Principal Investigators and Engineers by coordinating the construction of product mock-ups and prototypes. This will include:
  • Working with the technical staff to assess the prototyping needs and manufacturing options.
  • Contributing to the planning, design, and material selection processes.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, and design sketches.
  • Using machinery to cut, shape, and fabricate parts. This may include milling machines, engine lathes, electric and gas welders, hydraulic presses, sheet metal brakes, and hand tools.
  • Coordinating prototyping work with outside machine shops and suppliers. This may involve screening and selecting outside suppliers, developing and communicating work plans, negotiating and tracking costs, and project scheduling.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • Two years of college level technical training.
  • Must have a minimum of two years experience in Research and Development in a manufacturing environment. Military experience and active outdoor involvement (climbing, backpacking, etc.) is preferred.
  • Requires a technical background and strong interest in product development. Strong organizational and communication skills. Computer literacy, including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
